ELLICOTT CITY, MD – A Howard County construction project to replace the Henryton Road bridge, located 500 feet south of Crows Foot Road in Marriottsville, is underway. The existing concrete bridge will be replaced with a new single-span concrete beam structure. This new structure will increase the bridge’s structural capacity, remove the current weight restriction, provide safer access and minimize local flooding. The existing traffic barrier will also be replaced, and the roadway approach and shoulders will be widened. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late July 2024.

While the work is being done, the bridge will be closed to all traffic. New temporary traffic signals will be in place to direct traffic around the work area and alternate traffic onto a temporary bypass road constructed adjacent to the old bridge.

Signs will be posted to alert the public of the project and corresponding road closure and detour. A recorded message will provide information and updates as they are available, 410-313-4400.

While the County and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, drivers are reminded to stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Please slow down and don’t follow too closely when traveling through a work zone. Remember, work zone safety is in your hands.
