  • Businesses: The office collaborates with local businesses to meet their workforce needs, offering recruitment assistance, job posting services, and customized training programs to enhance the skills of their workforce.

  • Youth: The office provides career exploration, job readiness training, and work experience opportunities to empower young individuals and prepare them for successful transitions into the workforce.

  • Dislocated Workers: The office offers support and resources to individuals who have lost their jobs, providing reemployment assistance, job training opportunities, and guidance in navigating the job market.

  • Veterans: The office assists veterans in their transition from military to civilian life, providing specialized services such as career counseling, skills assessment, and connecting them with job opportunities.

Work on Wheels| Mobile Resources to Jobseekers

The County’s Office of Workforce Development (OWD) has partnered with the Howard County Library System (HCLS) to launch its Work on Wheels program. This new initiative enhances the Office of Workforce Development's range of services by bringing job seeking resources and services, such as resume reviews, connections to jobs and potential training, to underserved communities throughout the county.

Our services are designed to assist those returning to the workforce, people seeking a high school diploma, professionals looking for a career change and workers who have been laid off. Eligible job seekers may qualify for skills training, helping them gain a competitive edge.
