Roadside Mowing Program
The Bureau of Highways maintains six large tractors and two boom tractors all with rough cut flail blades for mowing where needed along County roads. Mowing is kept to a minimum for environmental and budgetary reasons. The primary purpose of the mowing program is threefold: to maintain drainage swales, to maintain sight distance for the driving public, and to prevent brush from encroaching on the roadway. One cycle of mowing takes about four weeks to complete and the Bureau mows a minimum of 3 times per year.
The property owner is responsible for maintaining any turf grass along the roadside frontage in accordance with the County Code.
The Bureau mows county owned stormwater management ponds once per year in accordance with state requirements.
Please contact the Bureau of Highways regarding any County mowing concerns.
