UPDATE: The deceased pedestrian is identified as Tanya Lynn Lilly, 48, of Glen Burnie.
Howard County police are investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian in Elkridge this morning.
At approximately 5:57 a.m. Dec.29, a 1992 Ford Explorer was traveling northbound on Route 1 near Doctor Patel Drive when it struck an adult female pedestrian crossing the roadway. A second vehicle, a dark-colored passenger vehicle, also struck the pedestrian. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Ford Explorer remained at the scene. The driver of the dark-colored passenger vehicle, a black male, stopped briefly but fled before police arrived on scene.

The 6200 block of Route 1 was closed for approximately three hours. The investigation is ongoing.
