Howard County police are investigating a fatal shooting in Columbia in which one person was killed and second person received a non-life-threatening injury. Police are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information.
At approximately 9:25 p.m. Dec. 17, officers responded to the 7600 block of Woodpark Lane and located two victims who had been shot outside in the open stairwell of an apartment building. Both victims were transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center. Jeremiah Isaiah Darden, 18, of Columbia, was pronounced dead overnight. The second victim, a 20-year-old male from Columbia, was treated and released.
Investigators do not yet have suspect information, but believe the shots were fired from an unknown vehicle. Preliminarily, detectives are investigating to determine if the incident may not have been random.
