Columbia, MD – The Howard County Health Department announced today the introduction of a mobile application to streamline the CAREAPP user experience. CAREAPP makes it easy to find and connect with over 2,500 Howard County programs for food, health, housing, transportation, education, employment assistance, and more. The free, fully translatable app can be accessed by downloading “CAREAPP Howard County” on any Apple or Android mobile device.

CAREAPP allows community members and partner organizations to find and connect to resources that address their social care needs,” said Dr. Maura Rossman, Howard County Health Officer. “This new mobile application will create a more seamless user experience, ensuring that residents can easily find and use services already available in the County. I would encourage everyone to take a moment to download the free app on their mobile device and become familiar with the simple search feature and referral process for hundreds of valuable community resources.”

“The innovative CAREAPP allows anyone to easily see and access the thousands of programs we offer,” said Howard County Executive Calvin Ball. “We want to ensure all our residents are taking advantage of the resources available so that Howard County can continue to be a place where everyone can live their very best life.”

The CAREAPP platform provides a direct referral system to any participating organization, allowing the user to follow-up with the desired organization directly. Individuals seeking community programs and services can self-refer, schedule an appointment, follow the status of the referral, and complete the referral. This combines a one-stop directory for anyone seeking community programs to locate the appropriate resource with the convenience of a mobile application.

“Promoting simple opportunities for residents to locate the resources that increase healthy outcomes is an important public health mission,” said Anthony C. Wisniewski, Esq., Howard County Board of Health Chair. “The Board of Health applauds the ongoing efforts to ensure that health equity and optimal wellness are accessible for everyone in our County.”

The Health Department has contracted with the nationally recognized findhelp support portal, which provides the online platform and application process being utilized in Howard County. Community organizations wishing to become a CAREAPP partner can visit the CAREAPP website or the Health Department Community Outreach webpage.
