“How can I model inclusion and acceptance to create real change in the world?

The Howard County Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Commission, in partnership with the Howard County Office of Human Rights & Equity and County Executive Dr. Calvin Ball, invite you to our family-friendly, multicultural celebration to commemorate the life and achievements of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Sunday, January 18, 2026.

The event will be held at the Horowitz Center Smith Theatre at Howard Community College and feature musical performances, dramatic presentations, a keynote address, as well as the recognition of the 2026 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. "Living the Dream" Award recipients and winners of the student oratory, essay, and poster contests.

The following day, on January 19th, join us in an interactive MLK Day of Service at the the Harriet Tubman Cultural Center. Community members can honor Dr. King's legacy through a tribute room, a Read-In with community members reading books about Dr. King, and a variety of service activities suitable for all ages.
