A Howard County construction project to improve stormwater drainage along Emory Street and portions of Church Road and Court Avenue in Ellicott City, is expected to begin on or about Monday, April 1st. The project will include the installation of a new storm drain, sidewalk, curb and gutter systems, the relocation of a water and sewer line, and the repaving and resurfacing of the roadways. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by late June.

While the work is being done, Emory Street between Church Road and Court Avenue will be closed to all traffic. Traffic will follow a clearly marked detour to Main Street. Additionally, parking restrictions along Emory Street and a portion of Church Road and Court Avenue will be in place.

Signs will be posted to alert the public of the project and corresponding road closure, detour and parking restrictions. A recorded message at 410-313-4400 will carry details and updates.

While the County and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, drivers are reminded to stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Please slow down and don’t follow too closely when traveling through a work zone. Remember, work zone safety is in your hands.
