WASTE WARRIORS: EDUCATION PROGRAM
Upcycled is offering a FREE educational program to educate our youth about the effects of plastic and how recycling benefits our watershed through hands-on learning.
Programs will be held at Schools, Community Centers, libraries and our facility in Clarksville
The courses take 1-2 hours and will take place after school hours
Programs are organized with a Green Teams teacher at a HCPSS or Teen Program Coordinator at the libraries

COURSE DESCRIPTION
LESSON 1 - INTRO TO PLASTIC
NGSS Standard: Analyzing and Interpreting Data (Practice) - Life Sciences (Discipline) - Stability & Change (Crosscutting Concept)
Activities: Build a Terrarium and listen to a story about how Upcycled was started!
LESSON 2 - UPCYCLING CRAFTS
NGSS Standard: Developing and Using Models (Practice) - Physical Science (Discipline) - Energy & Matter (Crosscutting Concept)
Activities: Create bracelets with “upcycled” beads from recycled bottle caps!
LESSON 3 - BUILD A STRUCTURE
NGSS Standard: Constructing Explanations & Designing Solutions (Practice) - Engineering Technology & Apps of Science (Discipline) - Influence of Engineering on Society & the Natural World (Crosscutting Concept)
Activities: Create an art mosaic from bottle caps!
