  • When: Monday through Friday, between 10:00am and 2:00pm except on the following County holidays:

    • New Year's Day
    • Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day
    • President's Day
    • Good Friday
    • Memorial Day
    • Juneteenth Day
    • Independence Day
    • Labor Day
    • Indigenous Peoples' Day
    • Veterans Day
    • Thanksgiving Holiday (Thursday & Friday)
    • Christmas Day

    Where: Alpha Ridge Landfill, 2350 Marriottsville Rd, Marriottsville, MD 21104

    All tours are outdoor walking tours and are weather-dependent. Groups are limited to 25 participants. We ask for a minimum of 5 participants per tour. Smaller parties may be combined with another tour group. 

    Please wear appropriate shoes and clothing. Chaperones are required for tour groups with participants under 18.

    Residents' Convenience Center tours are guided by a Recycling Coordinator and cover all reuse, recycling and disposal opportunities for residents and small businesses. Composting Facility tours are guided by landfill operations staff and discuss our state-of-the-art composting facility and construction. Groups are limited to 25 participants. We ask for a minimum of 5 participants per tour. Smaller parties may be combined with another tour group.
